Explore Buchanan

Summertime in Buchanan has something for everyone.  This little town hosts a series of concerts featuring a wide range of music. Concerts are often held in outdoor settings, so you can enjoy your Country & Western, Rock, Oldies, Swing, Blues and Bluegrass, in the fresh air - under the stars.  The Buchanan concert series includes nationally known acts as well as the top local talent. If musicals and dramatic productions are more to your liking, you will want to check out The Tin Shop Theater.  The Tin Shop was built in 1865 and was  home to many different businesses, until 1982 when the Fine Arts Council turned it into what it is today, a beautiful Theater which has staged over 80 productions.

Fernwood Botanical Garden and Nature Preserve is located nearby at 13988 Range Line Road, Niles.  The trails are well marked and easy to follow.  This 55-acre piece of paradise is beautiful in any weather, any season.  There is a miniature train set up on the grounds in the summer, which is a thrill for children and adults alike.  Check their website or the front desk for information on lectures on the local horticulture, bird-watching and other events.  Be sure to allow time for lunch at the quaint Fernwood’s Café, located on the grounds, which serves up delicious soups, sandwiches, salads and more.

If you are looking for a second home community right in this area, be sure to check out St. Joe's Riverbend Landings.  It is located just north of town on Red Bud Trail and it is nestled right on a beautiful, very wide section of the St. Joe River. And just another six minutes north on Red Bud Trail will bring you to Lake Chapin Shores, our 21 home waterfront community.
