Explore St. Joe

Affectionally known as St. Joe (formally named St. Joseph), this is one of most magical, fun-loving towns you will come across in Harbor Country. Your main problem while visiting St. Joe, is that you will run out of time and have much more you wanted to do!

This beautiful town features three immaculate public beaches, a Jack Nicklaus Signature Golf Course, and hosts numerous art fairs and festivals. You can rent bikes and ride across the pier to one of the most historic lighthouses on Lake Michigan. Try spending the day enjoying one of 40 charter fishing boats, which is an experience the whole family can enjoy, even if they have never fished before.

An entire sunny afternoon can be spent walking along the newly enhanced Silver Beach. Just off the beach you will find playgrounds and a snack bar with outdoor seating. Every member of the family will adore the magnificent carousel ride at the Silver Beach Carousel and Museum, located just off the beachfront. Directly across from the Carousel is the brand new "water fountain" park, which fascinates children of all ages, and features numerous fountains shooting water at different times and locations.

St. Joe offers plenty to do indoors as well. The Krasl Art Center features monthly and permanent exhibits, as well as art classes and workshops. The Curious Kids Museum and Kids Zone is an amazing hands-on playground which features 100 hands-on exhibits dedicated to science and technology. The Southwest Michigan Symphony Orchestra is truly something to experience. You can order tickets on their website, where they offer a variety of fascinating and engaging events.

The downtown area of St. Joe will delight you with its many unique shops and art galleries, featuring local talent and one of the area's most diverse choice of restaurants. After spending even a short amount of time at St. Joe, you will quickly see why Money Magazine recently named St. Joseph one of the best places to retire. If you fall in love with the area as we know you will, and are looking for a second home, be sure to visit Lake Chapin Shores. Lake Chapin Shores is a beautiful southwest Michigan lake home community on its own 600 acre all sports lake just 20 minutes from St. Joe.
